    Use following steps
Performing a system restore to before it was installed fixed the issue.
If you don't have a restore point, a workaround is to navigate through regedit to:
    HKEY_CURRENT)USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger\PerPassportSettings\197065465
Check the UTL entry in that folder for the one that matches your email and delete the entry.
MSN will then startup as normal. You have to do this everytime you reboot or log in to windows.

As per what I have read so far this error is caused by the preinstalled software on a Sony Vaio computer. If you have a Vaio and all your reinstallation CD's for preinstalled programs, try uninstalling SonicStage Mastering Studio Audio Filter first, then proceed to uninstall all SonicStage and Sony programs if it still doesn't work.

I think that registry cleaners can fix this error. I'd wait and try a few more things before running a registry cleaner, though. Try downloading and installing all the .NET Framework versions from Microsoft Update. You can also try downgrading to WLM 8.1. Does the old Windows Messenger work (if you have it)? It should be in the Accessories folder in the start menu if you do.

I have WLM 8.1 but i can't use my WebCam.

I have installed all net.framework Versions but it didn't helped also.

Can someone upload the Windows Live Messenger folder?
Because i can't uninstall Windows Live anymore, i mean i can't find it at programms.
But if i try to re-install MSN it says "You've already installed it."

    Re: Windows Live Messenger Error

Use the Windows Cleanup utility.. You just need to click "Windows live features" or something similar, uniuntall all the things starting with "Windows live", its specially tailored by windows to work with it =)

Or you can use CCleaner to clean any corrupted registries - http://forums.techarena.in/tips-tweaks/533699.htm

    Any other ideas?

    Edit:
I have installed now Windows Live 8.1 and it works until the log-in screen, but
i need to update then to 9.0 to use it. Can i disable the automatic update?

    Re: Windows Live Messenger Error

Why don't you just reinstall it on your system. First uninstall it completely, reboot the system and than download and install the latest version of Windows Live Messenger. Now try to login and using your webcam as well. Hope this will work you. If still you face some error or ant other issue, post the same here.

    Re: Windows Live Messenger Error

As per my knowledge both MSN and Windows live use to search remote web services in the backdrop to gain their update information. Is they find any new updates, it is programmed locally in the system to download robotically it in the background. The old GPOs from the elder edition for Messenger don't relate to MSN or Windows Live Messenger and so on, so as per me there is no such settings for the same.
