Avast 5 application slows down web surfing

Hello. I have a desktop machine and it is been installed with Windows Xp. he problem is that the we surfing has slowed down after installation and make the changes that us essential. The web shield when been on the surfing has slowed down. I have no idea what could have caused this issue. Please do help me out so that I can make the desired change to be worked. It will be helpful.

The issue can be associated with the application that is it would be better that you do check for the issue and make it work well. It would be better that to process. It could be that the application is not proper and hence there is some bug been appended to the system. So in order o work well and get the issue to be sorted.
