    Global maximum number of connections

After lot of people telling me to use uTorrent client for downloading torrent, I finally installed uTorrent on the computer. The application works fine but I am not able to get a good download speed on the computer. One of my friend suggested that "Global maximum number of connection" is responsible for the reduction in download speed. Is it true? If yes then how do you solve this problem? Please suggest some solutions. Any help is highly appreciated.

Yes the global maximum number of connection can affect both your upload and download speed. The maximum number of connection should be low and must be configured keeping in mind the computer on which the application is being used. If the number of connection is higher than the number of connections which can be handled by the computer then such problems will be faced.

Re: Global maximum number of connections

The maximum number of connection which can be handled by the computer depends on the router used. There is a limit on the maximum number of connection which can be handled by the router. If the maximum number of connection increases beyond this limit, the router wont be able to maintain the connectivity to the network which may lead to entire network going down.

Re: Global maximum number of connections

There is a simple way in which you can control the maximum number of connection which are active at a single instance of time. To limit the maximum number of connection, you can limit the upload speed of the torrent which is being loaded in uTorrent. Go to the preference of uTorrent and then limit the upload speed of uTorrent. Save the settings and restart uTorrent.

Yes if you want to avoid the flooding of the connection on the network, then limiting the upload speed is must. Limiting the upload, will put a check mark on the protocol overhead which will avoid the connection overflow. It is better to avoid the connection overflow to avoid the network from going down.

Re: Global maximum number of connections

Thanks for helping out. Limiting the upload speed really helped improving the performance of uTorrent. Now the maximum global connection on the computer is under control and hence the performance of uTorrent has improved. Now the download and the upload speed in uTorrent is maximum as supported by the Internet connection.
