need sound driver for lavie c lc500/1

hi guy,

i got a NEC Lavie C lc500/1 laptop. the old os is a chinese version...
i installed a new os, XP english version...
but i have no sound, i have check my soundcard chip and it says
via vt82c686b. so i downloaded a via vt82c686b driver from driverguide and install it... but still, there no sound...

pls help me guys...

Well try to download the driver for your sound card from this site i hope it may work.

Have you tried to install the drivers via Device Manager. Do this first. Connect your laptop to internet. Then right click on My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager. In that right click on your sound card and then click on update drivers. It will search for proper driver update automatically. Reboot your system afterwards.

I think that this issue occurs because the version of Viaide.sys that is included with Windows XP SP1 incorrectly identifies the VIA VT82C686B chipset as supporting Ultra DMA Mode 6 instead of correctly stating that it supports up to Ultra DMA Mode 5. Therefore to resolve this issue download Hotfix from here. After installing the hotfix uninstall and reinstall the drivers for your sound card.
