    Replace pulseaudio

    Hello,
    Pulseaudio is too fickle for my taste, I fired. Sound works properly again, and even better than when using Pulseaudio. But I prefer to understand what I did, to be sure of not doing anything stupid. If I understand it, Alsa, which took over the hand? But why on earth, annoy the world with Pulseaudio if Alsa works so well? Can you suggest me a replacement for the pulseaudio? So, can you help me with this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
    I do not think you to have to make these changes. I have never been installed pulseaudio:
    Here is what I am saying
    Code:
    pulseaudio:
    Installed: (none)
    Candidate: 0.9.21-1.2 + b1
    table version:
    0.9.21-1.2 + b1 0

    Re: Replace pulseaudio

    Hello,
    Pulseaudio is nonetheless permitted to do exit() in the client library as it encounters errors (especially when it can not allocate memory). In other words, it kills its host program without taking into account its condition, if there are things to save or not, etc.. And when this problem is related to the developer as a bug, this one finds nothing better to answer that "if we get to that point is that there are other concerns more important / WONTFIX."

    Hello,
    Even i want to replace the pulse audio with some other software. I did not know that it allowed these things. It no longer surprised that Firefox is found so often freeze (by refusing to advance to play me the sound of the video that turned) or Amarok closes, leaving only the process "python" which puffed all the CPU.

    Re: Replace pulseaudio

    Hello,
    For pulseaudio should redirect to pulseaudio alsa. To do this you need a file / etc / asound.conf
    Here is the code
    Code:
    pcm.pulse (
    type pulse
    )
    (ctl.pulse
    type pulse
    )
    pcm. "default (
    type pulse
    )
    ctl. "default (
    type pulse
    )
    I had to just start this in ~ /. asound.conf but I had problems with flash.
    Since I 'I put in / etc / everything is perfect.

    Re: Replace pulseaudio

    Hello,
    Thank you to enlighten me so that I see clearly. Do we not mix here Pulseaudio is a sound server and Alsa is a pilot to operate the sound card? I have seen here that dmix is, somehow, the sound server dedicated to Alsa. Also, if you have any alternative for this then please let me know.

    Re: Replace pulseaudio

    Hello,
    Say pulseaudio is a wrapper for alsa. Alsa handles sound devices, and more than enough for most uses. By cons, pulseaudio can really help a lot of very practical and intensive, but it must have a sacred sound system to be truly useful. (And I do not know enough to go into details, 5.1, etc., is too obscure for me)
