To customize CDs and DVDs you burn, you have several options. The simplest is arm yourself with indelible pen and write and scribble on the disk. Finally, results for cleaner, more professional, you can, using LightScribe technology, screen print your label directly onto your disc. The result is surprising.

LightScribe labels are in fact not restricted to text, you can burn images. If the LightScribe technology allows only a monochrome gray scale, you can play with the color of the discs to make your labels more colorful. For this you need a burner with LightScribe disc and a special coating (certified LightScribe). A special software is needed to produce your label and apply it to a disc. If such software is often integrated with the aftermath of burning trade (Nero for example), you can download for free.

Whether it is to customize your music compilations, DVDs, Video or photo collections, LightScribe technology allows you to label your discs properly while giving free rein to your imagination. Check your hardware and discs are compatible with LightScribe, download relevant software, learn how to properly prepare and record labels and get over 400 models for every taste.

To burn labels onto CDs or DVDs, your drive should be compatible LightScribe. To check if your burner is compatible, it's simple: in your computer, look at the front of your drive. A LightScribe logo indicates that the drive supports LightScribe. If your burner is not compatible, you can replace it with a recorder that supports LightScribe. After the drive, you need CDs and DVDs that can be screenprinted. These special discs should be compatible LightScribe. They cost a little more expensive than traditional media.

To use LightScribe, you must first install the system layer technology for Windows. Called LSS, this layer allows you to fine tune the contrast and quality of screen printing, improved compatibility with new writers and new CD / DVD Please check regularly if a new version of the LSS layer n is not available.

    LightScribe Installation:

    • Download and save LightScribe on your hard drive.
    • Once the download is complete, run the file.

    • Confirm the operation.

    • The installation wizard LSS is opened. Click the Next button.

    • Select I accept the terms of this license agreement and click Next.

    • Click the Install button.

    • If you make an update of the LSS layer already installed on your computer, confirm stopping the service already present in selecting Automatic closing .... Click OK.

    • Finally click the Finish button.

Once the layer LightScribe installed, you need a software to create your labels and burn them onto discs. For this you can use nero, Droppix Recorder or LightScribe Template Labeler. The first two programs are often bundled with the drives. If you use any of them, you can use the LightScribe Template Labeler software free.

    • Once the burning is complete, return your disk and put it back in the drive, the label side below.
    • Start the Template Labeler LightScribe double-clicking the icon LightScribe is on the desktop.
    • Click the OK button.
    • Select a label template in the list and click it.
    • Click on a text item to add text.
    • Enter your text and choose a font.
    • Click an Image to add an image.
    • Click the Open button, select your image on your hard drive and click Open again.
    • Adjust the size and zoom the image so it appears correctly.
    • When your label you think is correct, click the Preview button and print.
    • Select the level of Higher contrast for best results.
    • Then choose the color of your disk.
    • If the preview for you, click the Print button.
    • After fifteen minutes, your disc is labeled!

With the last update of the LightScribe system layer, it is possible to further improve the quality of your labels by increasing the contrast of the screen. Attention will then burn longer (allow thirty minutes for a maximum quality label).

    * Click the right mouse button on the icon LightScribe Control Panel located in the notification area to the left of the clock.

    * In the menu that appears, choose Open LightScribe Control Panel.

    * In the window that appears, open the Setting tab.

    * Then select the option Makes labels darker, but the time of creation of the label will be longer..

    * Finally, click OK. The change is effective immediately. When you burn a label, it is darker and the weather has almost doubled.
