Windows 7 x64 now stuck on low resolution non-PNP monitor

I recently restarted my Windows 7 x 64 systems and switched off the monitor. When I started it on, it came up at a much inferior resolution.

After that I have raised the resolution as high as it can go, but 1600x1200 is extremely blurry on my 1920x1200 monitor. Windows 7 insists my monitor is non-PNP which is ridiculous; it is a high end monitor, a View sonic VP2330wb.

I have moved into Screen Resolution->Advanced and Windows 7 merely refuses to pick up the monitor. It insists it is a Generic non-PnP. I forced the nVidia drivers to allow non-supported resolutions, which permit me to choose 1920x1200, which fixed after restart. But this is a lie; the monitor is still operating at blurry old 1600x1200 and is infuriatingly telling me so at regular intervals.

How do I force Windows 7 to talk PNP to my monitor?

Nvidia is having some problems with video drivers and X64 systems. At this end I can only think of a pair of suggestions - one is to go into device manager and attempt undulating back the video driver. That may work? If that does not work, uninstall/remove the Nvidia driver and then let Windows Update Catalog select a driver that will really work.

Optimistically you still have the CD that was provided with the monitor as Viewsonic shows no hold up for drivers for the monitor. In Devices and Printers, after that right-click the Generic PnP monitor and then update drivers and point it to any .inf file that you are having on the disk.

The monitor EDID and the new Win 7 nVidia drivers will not play together well until you tell it which monitor is there. Have you tried to contact Viewsonic support? If not then do the so.

For solving the problem follow these simple steps.
1. Try to roll back the driver to the earlier version
2. Click the Start Button, type Device Manager in the Search bar and press "Enter".
3. Double click to enlarge the Display adapters.
4. Right click the Nvidia GeForce 8800 Ultra and after that click "Properties".
5. Click on the "Driver" tab and then click on the "Roll Back Driver".

According me the problem is because of the video driver. I will suggest you to download the latest driver from the website of Nvida and install it on your computer system. I am sure this will definitely solve our problem. There is no requirement driver for you monitor to work in peaceful manner.
