Most, if not all forms of storage is likely to become damaged or corrupted. When your hard disks, CDs, DVDs or RAID is not time to try to recover your lost data. Data Recovery describes the techniques used by professionals to recover data that has been lost. Not only does it not apply to players who are physically or logically corrupted, data recovery is also used as a term to describe the process of retrieving and securing deleted information.

Usually, the need for data recovery because it has been accidentally deleted from the system. If this is the case, then normally the most data can be recovered. But when data is lost due to physical damage or malicious software, like a virus, the chances of recovering your lost data drops significantly. For the retrieval of simple data, like accidentally deleted a file, you can do it yourself by purchasing the software Undelete.

If you have decided to try to recover your data yourself on a damaged disk or corrupted, you should keep a few things in mind. Do not allow your system to start or run from the damaged disk. Instead, create a boot disk, boot from a USB flash drive, or use another hard drive to run the system from. Do not run the software for recovering data from disk to repair. Again, try to run the software from another source like a USB key. Now, one day, operating systems come with a set of tools for recovering data provided with their setup programs. This can help make the work of recovering your lost data much easier.

When faced with the possibility of data loss, no panic. There is always a chance that your important documents, photos and music files can be saved. And, if in doubt consult a professional. To find some tools, simply find your installation disks for your operating system and put the first disk of the computer. For physical damage, like what happens when a computer is submerged in a flooded basement, it is best to contact a specialist to help you.

Logical failures are often less severe for a hard drive as storage media still works but some files or data are unavailable ( other faults ). A logical failure can usually be resolved without intervention in cleanroom or exchange / repair any component of the hard disk. There are many causes of failures logic, the main ones :
    • Partition tables defective / corrupted file system
    • Formatting the hard drive, deleting files or erasing data
    • Loss of a hard disk partition
    • Computer virus: corrupt system after a virus attack

There are many virus nowadays. I think that the only way to avoid such things happen is impossible. But if you want your data safe, you can backup them more than one. This is the best way, I think.
