If the iTunes update is available, install it and try to return again. If you do not have an active Internet connection or an Internet security settings are configured in such a way as to prevent iTunes from Apple and data interchange, iTunes will warn that the iTunes update server can not connect. Fix Internet problems and try to update again.

Try a different USB port, uninstall and reinstall the USB ports as well as other available USB troubleshooting (USB connectivity troubleshooting, device is not detected correctly, the computer does not recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you have a error, ignore it and connect directly to the 30-pin dock connector USB cable. If the problem persists and known on the computer, the device may require servicing.

    1. Connect the iPhone to iTunes, make sure that the device is a recovery mode. Unless it is in recovery mode, place it in recovery mode.
    2. Restore and wait for the error 1609.
    3. Click OK on request.
    4. Close and reopen iTunes (hold the iPhone while connected).
    5. iPhone should be re-authenticated in recovery mode.
    6. Please try back again.

If you are running Microsoft Windows XP and was able to resolve the problem by using another computer, but continue to have problems using the original computer, you can try Windows USB drivers, updating and re-installing. Then you can try again with reconnecting the iphone.

    4. Choose from the list of installed programs, Apple Software Update, and then click Delete.
    5. When you are asked whether you want to remove Apple Software Update, select Yes.
    6. When the installation is removed, do not restart if you are prompted.
    7. If the Add or Remove Programs list, there are other Apple Software Update items, remove them also.
