What are advantages of XML in Office 2003?

I am knowing that XML is a native file format for Microsoft Word 2003 and other applications of Microsoft Office. I am having very less knowledge about the XML. While going through the notes I read that using XML with the MS Office 2003 can prove as advantage. There were nothing mentioned in notes other than that. So thought that someone hanging out there might help me.!! So tell me what are advantages of XML in Office 2003? You can also provide other information that is related with the Microsoft Office and XML file.

By using managed code with Office 2003, developers create applications with a model more reliable, by confining the executable code in a server trusted company. The code no longer installed manually on each computer, the deployment is too simplified, saving time and money are made. Word 2003 provides a visual interface to Facilitate mapping schemas to a document. Word 2003 has a Schema Library To which you can add multiple schemas. Once a schema within the Schema Library is attached to a document, power users or developers can graphically map schema elements from the XML Structure task pane to the document itself.

Re: What are advantages of XML in Office 2003?

Within Excel 2003, elements can be mapped from the XML Structure task pane to cells within the spreadsheet. Developers and power users can map XML elements in any order to the spreadsheet and do not have to meet any requirements of the scheme. Once the elements from the schema are mapped, the XML data can be imported and used just like any other data within the spreadsheet. First, if you are mapping to dynamic data through a web query, web service, a database query that exposed XML, or Access 2003, Excel the usual features can now be used on up - to-date data. Excel 2003 Allows an information worker to update the spreadsheet directly from the source XML data with one click.
