How to troubleshoot navigation issues in Microsoft Excel?

When using the Microsoft Excel, for moving the cell pointer from one cell to another, I am facing many issues. Also the mouse and the keyboard when used to move the cells, it is not moving as expected. Sometimes the worksheet scrolls when I click the arrow keys on your keyboard. The cell pointer moves to an unexpected location. I am not able to understand the cause of this problem. Please explain me how to troubleshoot navigation issues in Microsoft Excel? Hoping that someone would provide useful information for solving my problem.

Unexpected changes of the navigation functionality may indicate that the keyboard settings or Excel settings are enabled without your knowledge. Alternatively, the driver keyboard or mouse is defective. This problem may also indicate a hardware failure. Click the left button on the center button, then click the right button of the mouse to see if this resolves the problem. Test the functionality of the hardware using the default driver provided by the operating system. If the hardware works as expected using the default driver provided by the operating system, there may be a problem with the software manufacturer. Sometimes the problem can be solved by removing and then reinstalling the software. However, you should check the manufacturer's website if there is an updated version of the software and / or driver for your hardware and install the latest version if available.

I would like to suggest you to check the extended selection mode. The option selection area changes the functionality of the mouse and arrow keys as follows. If you use the mouse to click on a cell, all cells located between the previously selected cell and the cell that you try to click are now selected. If you press an arrow key, the previously selected cell and the adjacent cell in the direction of the arrow key is now selected. If you notice this behavior and that the reference EXT appears in the status bar of Excel, you can press F8 to disable extended selection.

When Scroll Lock is activated, "SCROLL" appears in the status bar of Excel. If you press the arrow keys when SCROLL LOCK is activated, the screen scrolls one line up or down. Alternatively, the screen scrolls one column to the left or to the right column. To use the arrow keys to move between cells, you must disable SCROLL. By doing this, scrolling problem of the workbook may get fixed.

The keyboard can sometimes get stuck in position "down". If one of the Shift keys are locked in position "down", the same problems occur when selecting the option extended selection. If you are experiencing this problem and that the state "EXT" does not appear in the status bar, it is possible that one or Shift key stuck on your keyboard. Press several times on each shift key to see if this resolves the problem. If the problem is not resolved, it may be that your keyboard is damaged. If one of the Ctrl keys is blocked and if you use the mouse to click a different cell, the previously selected cell and the one on which you click are now selected. However, the cells between these cells are not selected. If you press an arrow key, the cell pointer moves in a direction of several cells at once. The cell pointer may even move until the end of a range of data. Or, if there is no data, the cell pointer may move in the direction of the arrow keys. This frequently occurs when the cell pointer moves to the end of the row or column. To resolve this problem, repeatedly press Ctrl each.

Some hardware manufacturers include third party software packages with additional material, such as installation files for hardware drivers. If additional software included for your mouse or keyboard, navigate to Control Panel, select Add or Remove Programs, then select the software from the list of installed programs. Click Remove, and uninstall the software. Once the software is uninstalled, shut down your computer. Restart your computer. The operating system should detect new hardware and operating system must load the standard drivers or drivers by default.
