How to use the forms controls on a worksheet in Excel?

    Hi everyone,
I have recently started with an MS Excel, so I am not having much knowledge about it. I have done only the basic things in it. Now I want to use the form controls that are required while creating the form in worksheet of an excel. So thought that there would be someone hanging out there, who can provide some help. Please tell me how to use the forms controls on a worksheet in Excel.?? Expecting some help soon..!!

If you add a control to a worksheet and links to a cell, you can return a numeric value to the current position of control. You can use this numerical value with the INDEX function to select different items from the list. you should also know that Microsoft Excel provides several controls for dialog sheets. You can use these controls on worksheets to help select the data. The some examples of the form controls are the drop-down boxes, list boxes, spinners and scroll bars are useful for selecting items from a list.

To use the forms controls in Microsoft Office Excel 2007, you must enable the Developer tab. To do this, follow these steps :
    1. Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Excel Options.
    2. In the Popular tab, click the Show Developer tab in the ribbon to select it, and then click OK.

After doing these settings, you can use the form controls. Once the developer tab is enabled, you are free to use the form controls.

To add a list box in Microsoft Office Excel 2003 and earlier versions of Excel, click the List Box button on the Forms toolbar. If the Forms toolbar is not visible, select Toolbars on the View menu and then click Forms. To add a list box in Excel 2007, click the Developer tab, click Insert, and then click the List Box Form Controls section. Once you do this you will have to do the settings in Format Control. Click the right mouse button in the list box and then click Format Control. Enter the information below and click OK. Multiple options and Extend are only useful when using a Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications to return the values of the list. Note also that the 3D shading check box adds a three-dimensional look to the list box.

To add a combo box in Excel 2003 and earlier versions of Excel, click the Combo Box button on the Forms toolbar. To add a combo box in Excel 2007, click the Developer tab, click Insert, and then click Combo Box in the Form Controls section. Click the right mouse button in the combo box and then click Format Control. The drop down list or combo box should display the list of elements. To use the dropdown list or combo box, click any cell so that the object is not selected. Clicking on an item in the list box or combo box, cell is updated with a number indicating the position in the list of the selected item.

To add a scroll bar in Excel 2003 and earlier versions of Excel, click the scroll bar button in the Forms toolbar. To add a scroll bar in Excel 2007, click the Developer tab, click Insert, then click the scroll bar on the Form Controls section. You can also drag the scroll box to change the value or click the scroll bar somewhere in the scroll box to increase by 5 (the value of changing page). The scroll bar will not change if the current value is 1 and you click the down control, or if the current value is 20 and you click the up control.
