How to render Digital Video with iMac DV Input

Hi,
I have some old records which I want to play on the PC screen and capture the same from a Screen Capture software. I have two ways here. First either I can connect the VCR to the iMAC or connect a digital camcorder and record the screen. There is a DV input given behind iMAC. How can use the same for getting the video output for the same purpose. Thanks in advance.

The new Apple iMac DV, provides among other a FireWire connection and iMovie software to make editing digital video. For that you can use Final Cut Pro as a professionals software and Final Cut Express. For a basic level you can use Adobe Premiere or Edit DV. It will much easier to work with digital videos on iMAC desktop PC.

Note down one thing that if you are going to use iMac pc for editing digital movies then this software requires powerful configurations with many memories and fast hard drives. Otherwise you will not get a good quality output from it. A better software and a powerful hardware will help you to get the video quality of your choice in a easy way.

If you are trying use a older type of device to generate video like a VCR then it requires an adapter for the iMac does not have an analog video output. The video will be formed as PAL. On the other had if you are trying to connect via USB, VGA or USB then the video solution unusable by the same will provide too low speed of the USB and cannot transfer video full screen with sound.

FireWire adapter / analog video, this solution seems excellent as it is a direct conversion digital signal into analogue. Sony offers a converter for the same. VGA / Video, which lets you connect a VCR or TV on the VGA connector on your iMac DV. This solution has some disadvantages because the output is a copy of the screen of the iMac and you'll have to play your movie on the iMac in full screen which does not show the menu bar icons and mouse on your VHS tape .

The other way for the same can be burn yourself a CD in VCD format that will play on most DVD players, create a CD in S-VCD, etc. Indeed many camcorders have a DV-In ability but it has been disabled by the manufacturer. Thus, some camcorders do not have a Record button on the remote then it have a DV connector In some cases it is sufficient to open the remote to find this button or using the remote control of a top model.
