Nero 9 running very slowly on Windows 7 x64, was fast on Windows 7 x86

I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction -

I was running Windows 7 x86 with Nero 9 working well. Was prompted to upgrade to Win 7 x64 to get my full 4GB RAM operational (only 3GB were able to be used with the x86 version). The rest of my software is running the same or better, but strangely Nero 9 Ultra has become very slow with DVD burning (only single-layer tested so far). Yes it's a 32-bit app but that shouldn't matter, should it? Any solutions or can someone point me n the direction of a good 64-bit DVD-burner?

Also: Uniblue Speed Up My PC 2009 is incompatible with x64 OS... anyone know of a similar utility that will work clearing out the junk etc.?

    Thanks

    System:
    Sony VAIO VGN-NR280E
Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family
Core 2 Duo 667 MHz CPUs
    4GB DDRII SD RAM 667
Optiarc DVD RW Super Multi optical drive
'n00b' is just 'boon' spelled backwards. We all had to start somewhere.

Edit: Of course I mean 1.7 GHz CPUs! Also - Nero still saying it's writing DVDs at 8x but taking much longer. Even the caching of files is taking forever

EDIT: OK, was a power/performance settings issue.
