    Safari closes unexpectedly

I just installed Safari 4, everything went fine. After the restart I restarted the application and a message appeared telling me The application Safari has unexpectedly closed. It may be that the problem is caused by the addon AcidSearch. How do I solve this problem and take advantage of this excellent application that is Safari? Thank you.

Safari does that to me too lately. hen that box pops up that says like "try again", "report", or something else (i forgot what) have you tried reporting it to apple by pressing "report"? Sadly enough, it's closed-source so you can't really do anything about it. Try using Firefox instead until Apple fixes the problem.

If you're using the latest versions of any third-party plug-ins (like you are using AcidSearch)yet Safari still unexpectedly quits, try disabling plug-ins:

    • Open Safari.
    • From the Safari menu, choose Preferences.
    • Click Security.
    • Deselect "Enable plug-ins".
    • Use Safari for a while until you are reasonably certain it is no longer unexpectly quitting (or, if it still is quitting, skip to the next section).

    Re: Safari closes unexpectedly

    Hi,

I have the same problem. Since the update Safari 4, it is impossible to open. A window opens pointing to me "unexpected". I don't have any plugins installed. I think i need to reinstall the Safari.

    Thank you for your help

Sounds like corrupt preferences were obtained. Drag ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist on the desktop and restart. (In case you don't know, "~" means your home folder.) This may seem a good way to spoil things if you've never done this before, but OS X automatically replace a missing preference file with a file containing the default preferences. You can check online to verify this, or maybe someone else will support me.
