    Setting iSync with other devices

    Hi,
How to setup iSync to get work with other devices like smart-phones, pda, etc properly. I have a Nokia smart phone and a digital camera. I want to sync that to iSync to get some updates from the same. The issue is that for the first time it was not detected by it. So I need proper settings and what type of devices can be connected to it. Does MobileMe and iSync works together.

iSync is a free application offered by Apple that allows Mac OS X, to synchronize the information contained in your Address Book which includes all your cards, contacts and iCal which includes your Calendars and tasks between multiple devices. Like between your Mac and a mobile phone, a connection via Bluetooth and between your Mac and a diary / PDA Digital Palm or PocketPC.

You have to note down one thing that synchronizing with iPods and the iPhone is possible in iTunes and not in iSync. If you have a MobileMe account then you have another synchronization tool located in the dashboard MobileMe located in System Preferences. This is the tool you need to use to synchronize data and settings of Cal from "Mail", the sheets of the Address Book bookmarks Safari, etc between multiple pc.

Synchronization from dashboard MobileMecan also synchronize more easily and more information. But there is no connection with your MobileMe account and iSync. To synchronize your Calendar / PDA with iSync, it is necessary to install the Palm Desktop. You have to check the working version works under Snow Leopard. Other wise your phone model will not be detected.

As you launch iSync you will see a blank windows. First you need to add your Mobile or Palm PDA device. For that just click on the button Sync Devices to launch and configure synchronization operations. Once these devices added, they appear in this window. If the logo of your devices appreas then that is good in iSync. That means your device is no added and you can sync the same.

Once you sync your phone properly in iSync then just go away in the preferences of iSync and tick on Show status in menu bar. This is not mandatory, but it handy to have the access directly from the Finder's toolbar. By this you can check out the current status of the device. In the same Preferences window, make sure also that the Enable syncing on this computer is checked.
