Hello,
I'd like to know if it is possible to share an iTunes library located on an external drive (Time capsule) and can be opened either via my MacBook Pro or via my Mac Mini?
Thank you in advance

Good evening,
Are you taking about mac or windows? I don't know if its possible to have one on mac or another on windows. But on two mac , its possible.
Yes it is possible to have a common library on two pc. I personally setup with an iMac, MacBook and Time Capsule 1T which serves as my server, and AirPort Express.
You can use your iTunes library with different computers as long as they all run the same system (Mac OS X or Windows) and you have set your iTunes library to "Manually manage music". If you are not using iTunes 7 or later, click here .
How To use one iTunes Library With Multiple Computers
- iTunes -> Preferences
- Go to the “Advanced” tab
- Click the “General” tab
- Under the “iTunes Music Folder Location” click the “Change” button
- Navigate to your TC and create a folder called “Music”
- Click “Open”
- Click “OK” — you should now be back at a normal iTunes window
- Complete this on each computer.
I tried several applications, including Syncopation, but they are all partially working, with issues and unreliable. Also, if you don't keep the library at the same coordinates in the disk, they could not work on every computer. The possible nearest solution is Martian Slingshot, which give definitive solution.
iTunes will move all the tracks with all the information in the database iTunes Music Library. If all files are in one place, externally, you can use the library more than one computer. It is not unusual to share a library across a network using a network drive or on a computer as a dedicated server.
