Difference between 3D DriveGuard and ProtectSmart softwares

I want to know the difference between the two sofwares provided by the HP with its laptops and the notebooks. The softwares are 3D DriveGuard and ProtectSmart. I want the details of 3D DriveGuard and ProtectSmart softwares. What is the purpose of using them in the laptop. And the problem is that the both of this softwares are not working in the laptop which has the Windows 7 operating system.
