Make sure that there are multiple copies of AppleWorks 6 on your computer's hard disk by using Find File/Sherlock to search for AppleWorks 6.app. If you find this file, then the update program has been successfully updated AppleWorks, and is likely to have multiple copies of the application. You need to drag additional copies to the trash.

You need to ensure that the application file AppleWorks 6 is located inside the AppleWorks 6 folder. If the application is on the desktop, Choose the file and select remove from the File menu, to be put back in its folder. To be able to open AppleWorks from an icon on the desktop, create an alias of the application and put it on your desktop.

Sometimes a disk utility or other tool can modify the creation date of the application AppleWorks 6.0.4, which prevent the installer recognizes. The date the file of the AppleWorks 6 should be "Tue, 16 Feb 2010 05:00 AM." If your copy has a date or time, take all personal files from the AppleWorks 6 folder, put the folder and all its data to the trash folder, AppleWorks 6.x install from your installation CD and then run the updater AppleWorks 6.2 again.

Be sure to download the same language version of the updated version of the Mac OS on your computer. If you are in India or the United States to ensure that you have not downloaded the International English version, since it is not intended for release in North American English Mac OS. The upgrade program replaces any AppleWorks 6.2 AppleWorks for Macintosh version 6.0 to 6.1.2 with AppleWorks 6.2 for Mac OS X 10.0 and AppleWorks 6.1.2 for Mac OS 8.1 to 9.x These versions have a set of common characteristics, but are optimized for the appropriate operating system.

In your system folder contains the folder "extensions" and "Extensions (Disabled)" of the control panel "Extensions". If these folders exist in the system folder, they are created. If you check the box "Extensions" close to, the objects move according to your changes from the Finder into the appropriate folder. If the problem recurs, you know that it is caused by one of the last additions. Turn off the items in the last group one by one, until you have identified the faulty extension.
