If Time Machine can not complete a backup, making note of any warning message appears. You can also open System Preferences and click on the red icon "i" in Time Machine preferences for more information. If you use Time Machine along with Time Capsule, Make sure you've updated your Time Capsule with the software and firmware latest.
Time Machine controls the files and folders that have changed since the last backup, so it only makes copies of those files and folders. If Time Machine loses control of files and folders that have changed since the last backup, will compare an "inventory" of existing data with an inventory of the backup. In rare cases, Time Machine may not be able to back up third party software (software from other companies other than Apple) because any adjustment made by the manufacturer.
If Time Machine does not backup a particular file, you may have marked him with the "Do not make backup" in Time Machine preferences. To remove files from the list "do not backup":
1. Select System Preferences menu Apple.
2. On the menu Visualization. Select Time Machine.
3. Click Options.
4. Look at the list "do not backup. To delete an item that should not be on the list, select it and click Delete (-).
5. Click OK.
Try repairing the backup Time Machine:
1. Select System Preferences menu Apple.
2. On the menu Visualization, Select Time Machine.
3. Move the slider to "Off" to disable the backups Time Machine.
4. Open Disk Utility, located in / Applications / Utilities.
5. The way to repair the backup depends on where Time Machine stores backups.
Solution for error message, "Time Machine could not be configured. The built-in network interface could not be found". Try the following steps :
1. From the menu Go the Finder, navigate to this location:
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/
2. Copy the file "NetworkInterfaces.plist" to the desktop (to make a backup, just in case).
3. Delete the file "NetworkInterfaces.plist. Enter a name and an administrator password if prompted.
4. Restart your Mac
5. After a reboot, reconfigure Network preferences panel and Time Machine in System Preferences.
6. If the problem persists, please contact an Authorized Service Provider Apple to verify the network ports on your Mac
