WIC 4.5 & .Net Framework 3.5 Errors

i'm trying to install .net framework, but i get the error:

""IC Installer: [2] Setup Failed on component WIC Installer
[02/04/10,19:30:36] WapUI: [2] DepCheck indicates WIC Installer is not installed."

But I do have Windows Installer 3.1.

i erased .Net 2.0, but that did not help. i tried to install Windows installer 4.5, but i get the error:

"setup has detected that another update is in progress. please complete that installation or removal and try again."

but there is no other update happening. should i erase WIC 3.1?

what to do?

Any software cannot be removed from the system by simply erasing them from the computer. You have to uninstall it or remove it from the "Add or Remove programs", that is available in the Control Panel. I guess that some updation processes of the previous versions of the softwares are still going on. This may be the reason you are getting the error. After that try installing the new version. Your problem may be solved.

i did use the add/remove programs to erase. i'm wondering if i should remove windows installer 3.1 and then try installing the newest one?
