PPS impossible to open from OE

Good morning all,

A friend who is on XP, not having office. I advised him of using PowerPoint Viewer to read PPS.

He downloaded it via mail i sent through Outlook Express and can not read the PPS receives it without having previously recorded on its hard drive. She went into folder options uncheck the option "Confirm open after download".

What's there else to do?

Do you remember exactly where it is in the message options a check box that by default prohibits messages deemed dangerous by OE.

To verify that it comes from OE, so can you watch attachment it saves ?

Repair Outlook Express:

Open the Registry Editor, go to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{44BBA840-CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C}

click the right mouse IsInstalled (REG_DWORD) And put some value

do the same thing with this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}

Quit Registry Editor.

You have received a file .Pps a contact OE and no way to open this file by opening attachments: it is a known bug in PowerPoint Viewer 2003. To correct it, 3 solutions:

• save attachments on the hard drive and then open the file. pps.
• install version 97 of the Viewer but you risk losing the improvements that the 2003 version.
• use fixppviewer .

Perform the following easy steps:

1. Click Start, type regedit.exe and press ENTER
2. Navigate to the following branch:
   

   HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PowerPointViewer.SlideShow.12\shell\Show

3. Right-click Show and click Rename
4. Type the word Open so that Show is replaced by Open command
5. After changing Show to Open, close Registry Editor window.
