Outlook error message when using the Address Book

When I open Outlook and create a new message, I used to be able to press the To, Cc or Bcc button and then select recipients directly from my address book, but Now, I get the following error message:

The address list cannot be displayed. The Contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions. For information on how to remove this folder from the Outlook Address Book, see Microsoft Office Outlook Help.
Anyone have any suggestions? How do i resolve it?

This message happens when you replace the file .PST another or if there is corruption of the management of the address book (contacts are displayed as an address book). The solution is to remove the outlook address book and re submit it.

Note that it does not delete any data, but nothing prevents you from making a backup before .

Click on the button Start, search, Files or Folders.

Enter *.pab Then, in the area Search, Click Workstation And finally click on the button Search now.

Then drag the file on the media to use for backup.

    To Resolve this error:

    • Open Menu Tools, Email Accounts.
    • Choose Option View or change directories or address books existing and Next.
    • Click Outlook Address Book, Remove and Finish.
    • Exit Outlook and restart.

    • Open Menu Tools, Email Accounts.
    • Choose Option Add a new directory or address book and Next.
    • Click Additional Address Books, Next.
    • Click Outlook Address Book, Next.
    • A message will prevent the need to restart Outlook to the Outlook Address Book is taken into account.
    • Click on the button OK and restart Outlook.
    • You can then right click on the Contacts folder to display, Properties.
    • Tab Outlook Address Book, Tick Show this folder as an address book mail.
    • OK to finish.

NB: This manip is no longer possible with Outlook 2007. I want a workaround (if you find one ... thank you).

Outlook version? What windows do you have open when you click Tools? Do you choose any menu item after clicking Tools? Click Tools->E-mail Accounts->View or change existing directories or address books->Next. Select Outlook Address Book and click Change. Remove the bogus reference there.
