Windows installer window keeps popping up

A window saying "windows installer" and then "Preparing to install..." keeps popping up every few seconds on my desktop pc. Its a Dell Dimension e520 running windows xp media center edition sp3. I scanned for malware with malwarebytes antimalware and found nothing. I tried to install windows installer cleanup but it says that an installer is already running and i have to complete that install first. I can't remove office either for the same reason. Booting in safe mode didnt change anything. I would really appreciate some help. Thanks

You should probably try to uninstall the Microsoft Office program from your system by using some third party software like the CCleaner or TuneUp Utilities. Download and install anyone of them and run the application. You will find the options to uninstall any installed programs.Try uninstalling Microsoft office by this method. Or else you can also try performing System Restore to store your system to past instance when you were not facing any of these problems. If that to did not help then the only option you have got is to reinstall the OS and then do a clean installation of Microsoft Office form original CD of it.
