    Types of Seatools scans

    Hi,
As my system was working extremely slow so I downloaded Seatools. It shows me some result which I am not able to determine. I am using Windows Vista. What are the options available in the program. How to implement and how to get information from the test generated by the software. How to read those test and determine the system status. What are the different types of Seatool Scans.

Some tests may not be available or displayed in the menu if your drive is not compatible with. Click on the desired test. Most of the time the test Auto Test Disk Court is sufficient to determine the status of a disc. Once the test is performed, the column Test Status displays the result. The result green indicates that no abnormality has been detected. The result red Failed indicates that one or more problems were detected on the disk. And the Outcome black indicates that the operation failed.

Launch the software. After a few seconds of analysis, it displays the list of detected disks. Then check the disc to be tested in the list. The menu of tests is then released. It has several options like SMART Audit, Auto Test Disc Court, Auto Test drive Long, Information on the disk, Generic Short, Generic Long, etc

The various tests available some of them are, SMART Audit. All modern hard drives have a preemptive diagnostic feature, called SMART, which can anticipate problems drives by finding the first signs of failure. When such deficiencies are identified, the test SMART SeaTools display Failed, saying that SMART has detected the existence of material problems on the disk.

Auto Test Disc Court test performs a quick diagnostic of the disk (in less than 90 seconds) using a routine pre-integrated into the firmware of the disk drive. If this test fails, then your disk is clearly damaged. If the test succeeds, then you should try more extensive tests and therefore longer. This test may not be available on external drives.

Auto Test drive Long test can take up to 4 hours of execution. Attention test evolves slowly in 10% and therefore often gives the impression of being stuck or blocked. But this is never the case. It is imperative to wait for the test the first 10 percent before eventually cancel the test once it has started. This test may not be available on external drives.

Information on the disk displays basic information such as disk serial number, the reference model, the number of firmware, the Max LBA functions supported, its temperature, its hours of operation and the size of its cache. Generic Short is always available and performs a diagnosis based on three short tests: Outer scan (scan out), Inner scan (scan inside), read Random (shuffle).
