How to Make MSN Messenger work with Firewall

Hi all,

I am using Windows Firewall that is inbuilt with windows XP. I am installing MSN Messenger in my system but it is not work with this, I am not able to log in my account. I 100% sure it is due to my firewall configuration. How can i make good setting for my firewall that can access msn messenger. I am not comprise with security issue. Thanks in advance.

You need to do following steps to access MSN messenger through firewall:
# Go to start and run,
# Type FIREWALL.CPL on it and press enter.
# Go to general tab and check the option that windows Firewall is enabled or not.
# If it is enable then uncheck the button and click OK.
# Restart the system.

If you want to enable the firewall and also access the MSN messenger, then do the following steps:
# Go to firewall windows as above reply step.
# Click the Exceptions tab from general tab.
# Under Programs and Services, select MSN Messenger if it appears in the list, and then click Delete.
# Then click Add Program, click Browse, and then locate the path C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger folder.
# Double-click the Msnmsgr file and make sure that the Msnmsgr file is added to the Programs and Services list .
# Click OK to save the changes.
# reboot the system.

Now i am able access my msn messenger from my windows and also able to login them, Thanks for suggestion and replying. Now i want to repair the msn messenger in my PC. Is it possible because i do not have dump file for that. Please help. Is windows XP CD is required for that. Please help. Your suggestion is appreciated.

May be you need to check Windows XP CD is required for repair the MSN messenger. You need to the following steps:
# First end the process of msn mesenger in your PC.
# Also in the notification area on the taskbar , click the Messenger icon, and then click Exit.
# Then go to the taskbar, click Start, and then click Control Panel.
# Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
# You can find Windows Live Messenger Under Currently installed programs
# Click Change and Click Repair on it.
# Reboot the PC.
