| Does DivX is needed for an audio support
DivX is an essential codec. The DivX codec is able to significantly reduce the size of your video sequences, whether from a camcorder, acquisition, or a DVD Video. The advantage of this technology lies in its ability to create a file much smaller than the original while retaining a quality true to the source. I had found the same on internet. If I had a player which does not support this then what to do. |

DivX is to video what MP3 is the audio: a universal standard that any amateur film meets one day or another. Because the standard DivX - a French invention - can store an entire movie in a file of 700 MB only, the size of a CD, with an acceptable image quality. As for MP3, everything is a matter of compression. If there is loose quality then that is not really enjoyable. |

The image is processed by a program coder-decoder (codec) to occupy less space on the hard disk. The technology used is the MPEG-4, while DVD-video using the MPEG-2 and CD-Video MPEG-1. And the sound is simply the MP3 format that is used in most cases (some DivX incorporate sound in Dolby AC3). |

To play the videos with Windows Media Player on your PC, it must therefore have the same codec that was used to compress the video. The most popular codecs are DivX (commercial) and Xvid (free). Fortunately, the installation of these codecs is proving very simple, thanks to "pack" free and ready for use. Some vendors even offer media players can read DivX files directly on your computer without installing codecs. |

Likewise, most DVD players today read lounge DivX smoothly. If you own a portable video player, things get a little complicated. Indeed, your device does not read can not be directly DivX. You must then convert them into a compatible format. There is free software that perform this work. Once you know play DivX, perhaps you want to create yourself. |

If you have home movies on DVD or recorded shows on television, you will gain disk space by converting to DivX and you can even burn them onto CDs for your family or friends. Again, free software is available. Some guide you step by step through the various stages. For short sequences, you will not even need to install software: the Web site Media Convert performs the operation in three mouse clicks. |
