Logic Pro 9 64 Bit for Snow Leopard

    Hi,
Apple is providing the 64 bit version of Logic Pro 9. I have the old version which functions quiet well. As an audio tool what is new in Logic Pro 9 64 bit version of software. The only issue with the old version is that it sometime eats up my RAM and gives a slow system access. Other than this it is enough for my use. Does the new one has an mp3 conversion feature. Thanks in advance.

Snow Leopard 64-bit versions of Logic and MainStage software specializes in live performances and through updates to both professional audio applications. This is the first time that support 64-bit starts to spread in the Apple commercial applications (other than those included in Snow Leopard). However, the 64-bit is not a magic wand, there are constraints and not necessarily of immediate gains.

There is no need for optimization of OpenCL in this new 64 bit version. Logic Pro is a lighter and more features are not available for relatively simple things, such as lack of conversation MP3. Another example is Concerts profiles created in 32 bit are not usable when the software is open 64-bit and vice verse. The 64 bit does not looks so different but the main thing is that now the other versions of MAC are also capable of running this.

The first advantage is that of using the RAM that is no longer limited to 4GB Both programs can draw without counting in what is left free by the system. There will be much more pace for the plug-ins which are widely used and provided by Apple. This is one thing which is quiet nice it. And other than this all is similar. If you want some advance features then you can switch to this.

The EXS24 sampler is also addressed 32-bit since he was already able to use memory other than that already captured by Logic (and Mac OS X). Therefore, it becomes interesting to follow the arrival of such plug-ins compatible 64-bit hungrier than in RAM are no longer restrained by the pressure of 32 bits. These 32-bit plug-ins will work in Logic Pro and MainStage 64 bits through a separate application - called Audio Unit Bridge -- which starts whenever one of these modules is loaded.

Yes audio unit bridge remains subject to the limits of the 4GB of usable RAM and a single plug-in 32 bits can be opened and manipulated at once. Apple says that its use should not result in loss of performance (compared to using the same plug-ins with 32-bit Logic 32-bit). Then the explanation focuses on the virtual memory option in EXS24 advised to leave it checked, except that it has plenty of RAM. It also specifies that no difference in audio rendering is to be expected from use of these applications in 64 bits.
