Solving the issue of Corrupt Windows System file of IBM ThinkPad

I have an IBM thinkpad T23 and suddenly when I turned it on it came up with an error message saying: \windows\system32\config\system is corrupt or missing? After inserting the Boot disk into CD drive it is booting fine but installation progress bar is constant.I cant access BIOS because I forgot the password for it. When I start my PC ,the mouse pointer goes into wait mode and it stops until I shut down the PC .

It doesn't matter which operating system you are using first of all make sure your boot disk through which you are installing windows must be uncorrupted . if you getting same message again and again your boot disk may be corrupted. follow these steps to repair windows

* Insert the Windows XP boot disk into the CD-ROM drive, and then restart the computer.
* Start the computer from the CD-ROM drive.
* When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears then setup allocate you to press R for start the Recovery Console.
* If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the installation that you want to access from the Recovery Console.
* You would be prompted now and type the Administrator password. If the administrator password kept you blank then press ENTER.
* At the Recovery Console command prompt, you have to type the following lines, pressing ENTER after every line:

md tmp
copy c:windowssystem32configsystem c:windowstmpsystem.bak
copy c:windowssystem32configsoftware c:windowstmpsoftware.bak
copy c:windowssystem32configsam c:windowstmpsam.bak
copy c:windowssystem32configsecurity c:windowstmpsecurity.bak
copy c:windowssystem32configdefault c:windowstmpdefault.bak

delete c:windowssystem32configsystem
delete c:windowssystem32configsoftware
delete c:windowssystem32configsam
delete c:windowssystem32configsecurity
delete c:windowssystem32configdefault

copy c:windowsrepairsystem c:windowssystem32configsystem
copy c:windowsrepairsoftware c:windowssystem32configsoftware
copy c:windowsrepairsam c:windowssystem32configsam
copy c:windowsrepairsecurity c:windowssystem32configsecurity
copy c:windowsrepairdefault c:windowssystem32configdefault

To be Exit from the console type "Exit",your computer would restart automatically and ready to use.

If you starting your PC and your mouse pointer always display in waiting mode then you come to know that system is going slow and you are restricted to use the system now. In this case, your system file which controls over mouse section is corrupted. you can solve it in this way:

Using recovery console, you can recover your corrupted file which causes the pointer to go into waiting criteria.
insert the boot disk =>restart computer=>Press R to choose recovery console=> you would be prompted for recovery console => type recovery command and exit .After restarting you are ready to use you system .

If you are unable to access the BIOS of your computer system because of Password then don't worry about that I will help you solve this problem

1. Start your computer and press Del to enter setup if it is asking about password .then
2. Press the Shutdown button of your PC constantly for some moment.
3. When your system has been completely shutdown unplug all the electric cables from the PC
4. Remove the battery of your motherboard (which maintains the date, time and all the BIOS when system puts into off mode) for 2 minutes.
5. Put it again into motherboard and start your PC and now you can provide a new password for BIOS ...

When you are performing installation and in the middle of installation you are getting some problem like -Progressing bar is not running at its appropriate time . So you need check your system configuration that the operating system which you are going to install is compatible with your hardware configuration or not .If bar is taking so much time you need to discard the installation and choose only those operating system which is compatible with your PC.
