Computer Shuts Off by itself....

my hp compaq nc6120 laptop gets to the home screen then userinit.exe application error pops up saying that the memory could not be written it has the options to terminate program or debug program neither option works i cant open task manager no icons pop up and it stays on the homescreen for about 6 seconds.... I have windows XP

• Insert Windows xp operating system cd into the drive.
• Click on the Start >> Run.
• Now type the command as "sfc /scannow"
• It will replace all the corrupted files to run the System File Checker.

By what you have mentioned i suppose your computer has virus infection symptoms. I would suggest you to start your machine in safe-mode. Make sure you have purchased a genuine Antivirus software [basic free versions have limited ability]. Scan your computer in safe-mode and let the antivirus deal with the infections it finds. According to me, the question asked by you is not with full required information to give exact answer. But the problem facing by you can be due to many reasons, it can be due to the power supply to the computer or maybe due to the power switch is not well attached to the motherboard or maybe due to virus infection on computer etc. I think it is due to virus or some malware into your computer. Install the registered or licensed version of anitvirus and scan your system and remove the virus.
