    GFI MailArchiver for Mail Archiving

    Hi,
    I need some information on GFI MailArchiver. The tool is made to compress the large amount of mails. How it works and what are the best features of this. Can we integrate the same with Microsoft SQL. What is the system requirement for this application. Does this software can work on a central server for better organization of mails.

    Messages can be stored in a SQL database (or more) or on a hard drive to NTFS. Message archiving also improves the performance of the server. GFI MailArchiver includes the following features. It support of Exchange and email servers compatible with IMAP and Active Directory. There are rules for automatic mai. You can access to messages via a simple web interface.

    The tool also offers search tools and possibility to distribute messages to multiple databases. It is possible to distribute messages in several databases and the response times are much faster. GFI MailArchiver compresses and decompresses attachments on the fly, which greatly increases storage capacity. In addition, SQL Server could save up to 80% more space compared to PST files. Online Backups is supports in the tool. This version includes support of Microsoft Service VSS (Volume Shadow Copy Service), allowing administrators to use backup tools from third party to perform backups of data stored by GFI MailArchiver without stopping the service .

    It is recommended to have a P4 machine with minimum 2GB of free NTFS disk space. Your computer must be a domain controller or to be connected, since GFI MailArchiver requires access to Active Directory. Other things needed is Microsoft. NET Framework 2.0 with Access to Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 or later. Web Service (IIS make sure that ASP.NET is registered on IIS) and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or later is required.

Also this software is flexible and does not necessarily require a SQL database: Messages may be stored on a hard drive to NTFS.
