GPO in AD 2008

Hi everybody,

Happy new year !

I have a problem with group policy in active directory 2008 . ( I have to admit from the start that I am a beginer with AD )
I added a new OU, i created a new GPO, i linked it to the OU .
I do not understend something : at the resultant set of policy PLANNING, i have the new GPO, the one that I created ; at the resultant set of policy logging, I have default site GP ....
And, of course, a user from that OU is logging and having the default group policy.
How to solve this problem ( to log on with my GPO, not with the default ) ?
Any help, please ?

Hey, I think that your system is infected by the some kind of the malware or the virus. Do one thing make the system restore and restore it to the back date when your GPO is responding. Try this hope that this will work. Say thanks if it works for so that i can refer this to more people.

Re: GPO in AD 2008

You can use the GPMC utility to edit any aspects of the group policy which you have created. By using the GPMC you can manage all Group policies. You can also change the log-in type for your group policy so that you will be able to log-in as the GPO defined by you and not as default.

Re: GPO in AD 2008

Hi,
Thanks both of you for your answers.

Baani,
I did and I have the same result.I will scan once again, my antivirus software is not finding any virus.I will scan on-line on symantec web page , maybe I will find out something...I hope this is not the cause , to be honest

Sam D. ,
Can you be more specific, please ? I do not find the setup wizard for log-in type in the gpo or ou properties window .

I searched on the help of GPMC and he did not find any topic.

Thank you once again for answers.

I think your system is infected by a virus or malicious program try to check it with your antivirus or download the malwarebytes antimalware utlity and run a quick scan. I think that this will surely help you.

Re: GPO in AD 2008

Thank you, Lillebror

I`ll do that for sure - symantec already found an infected file, and it scanned only 25% from my hdd.
I hope I can fix this, otherwise it will be tuff, considering that I have Exchange also on the domain controller ........

Re: GPO in AD 2008

I`ve scanned with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and the result is this one :
Registry Data Items Infected:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoActiveDesktopChange s (Hijack.DisplayProperties) -> Bad: (1) Good: (0) -> No action taken.

What do you think about this ?

According to me, in that case, you need to update your Malwarebytes by going to the Update Tab, and then run a Quick scan on your system. I think the best thing you can do is try using CCleaner tool on your system. It will surely help you to get rid of the above issue.

Re: GPO in AD 2008

I did this also .... now it is clean , according to this two tools and also to symantec on-line scan .

But still I have the same default GPO at the login.Maybe i did something wrong .
I will describe exactly what I have done :
1) create 3 users in AD
2) create a new OU
3) move 3 new users in the new OU
4) in GPMC I have created a new GPO - name Tests and linked it to the ou
5) i have blocked the inheritance
6) at security filtering i have added the 3 users, without removing "authentificated users" from there - no result
7) i have removed the "authetificated users" from security filtering - no result.
8) enforce the gpo
9) remove the enforce and from cmd i executed : gpupdate/force

No result....the users is stil logging with default gpo ....

I did something wrong or i didn`t do something ?

I still do not find the log-in type setup ....
I followed your advice...instal ccleaner and malwarebytes..update..scan...now it is not founding anything....

Any other ideeas ?
Thank you all for your help !

Re: GPO in AD 2008

If nothing is working with your system then I'll suggest you to take back of your system and format your system and reinstall the operating system with the Original CD and then try to set up the complete thing probably this will help you resolve your issue. Thats all i can help you. Thank you
