    Flashing BIOS Failed in Windows

    Hi,
I have a MSI motherboard. I had connected to hard drive to create a RAID partition. The second hard drive was some time detected and some not detected by the BIOS. So I decided to flash the BIOS. Then I download the BIOS Flashing utility and run the same. I received a message denoting that Flashing Bios failed. After that the computer is not booting up back again. How to flash the same properly and revert back the old settings. Thanks in advance.

The bios is flash memory on the PC lately. hence the expression flash.
This operation entails a risk if the operation fails, the PC may not function at all.! So do not flash your bios unless you find it indispensable. Before you flash the bios, read the instruction manual of the motherboard. The procedures are not flashing on all motherboards. The most widespread and most reliable way is to flash in DOS. So you can first create a book disk by the flash utility and then proceed.

However, it is necessary on some motherboards moving a small jumper to allow flashing. Others need to set an option to Disabled in the BIOS before the operation. Refer to the instructions of your card to see if it has this kind of protection, originally intended to avoid damage to the BIOS by certain viruses. If by setting up the jumpers you can revert back on your BIOS. But for that it is necessary to create a boot disk from a different computer.

Asus and MSI offer a utility to flash using Windows. To flash BIOS, you must first find the exact model of your motherboard, so your BIOS. To do this, you can use the program CTBIOS. CTBIOS If the program does not work with your machine and you have an Award BIOS, you can still find some references to your motherboard. When booting the PC, do break and watch the bottom line that appears .

The ROM is actually an EEPROM. EEPROMs more than 256 KB have two zones: a zone containing the BIOS and another area called BootBlock 24 KB. This area is on the AMI and AWARD BIOS with different characteristics. The BootBlock can reflash the BIOS even after a flash failure. The BootBlock is not erased during a flash, and is not changed. Unfortunately, some viruses can destroy or modify this area making this technique unusable (see below for when the flash failed: Technical HotSwap). Create a boot disk and then copy the flash program (AWDFLASH available for download (see flash file)). Also put the name of the file containing the BIOS (with the extension. BIN or. ROMs usually). In the autoexec.bat file to disk, remove all lines, leaving only the following: awdflash.exe NOMDUBIOS / py, py shows that the flash is no confirmation for details see flashing. Start with this disk. Once the floppy disk is idle (wait a few minutes), restart.

This technique is to start the PC with a good BIOS (borrowed from another PC), to replace the existing BIOS hot (hence the term hot) by the former. We then proceeded to flash the old BIOS. This technique does not damage the computer. Here are the steps to follow. Get you the BIOS of a motherboard IDENTICAL to yours (you must remove the BIOS of its support on the motherboard). Insert the new BIOS in the socket located on your motherboard. Then start the PC in MSDOS mode or a boot floppy. Then remove the BIOS. Leave the machine turned on. Then place the old BIOS. Flashe the old BIOS.
