How to customize the Desktop icon?

Hey, I am having a problem regarding the use of the Icon of the desktop. I have a lots of icon on the screen and i want to manage them according to the need of mine but could not find any thing that will work like the same for me so here i raising the question regarding the same. I don't want to delete those icon as it is the easiest way to mange the usable thing together. So I need your help to solve this issue regarding the customization of the icon of the Desktop.
