    Installing gnome-applet Debian

    Hello!
I'm on Debian 5 equipped with a laptop IBM ThinkPad T42p. This supports hdaps technology that helps stop the reading / writing the hard disk during a sudden movement. In short, I want to install gnome-applet-hdaps but I can not compile. I enter the command as indicated in the file INSTALL.
    Code:
    gcc $ (pkg-config - cflags - libs libpanelapplet-2.0)-o-hdaps gnome-applets gnome-hdaps-applet.c
And I get an error message which installing it. I did run the following command
    Code:
    apt-get install-libpanel applet2

    Package libpanel-applet-2.0 was not found
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `libpanel-applet-2.0.pc '
    No package 'libpanel-applet-2.0' found
However the following packages replace it: *
      libgnome-desktop-2
But I still blocking. What should I do to have good library?

    Hello

I think you should try installing this. Issue the following command in the terminal as a root user.
    Code:
    apt-get install-libpanel applet2-dev
    Hope this will help you.

    Hi,
    apt-get install-libpanel applet2-dev
It works! I have not touched anything except the packets as installed in the command above. Surely from to restart the machine. For info, is there a way to refresh the libraries without restarting? Finally, I think it is a history library, right? Thank you.

    Hello,
Normally, it is not at all necessary to reboot to use a library. You would rather not install libpanel-applet2 initially then libpanel-applet2-dev thereafter? These are not the same! In any case, I think it was a library problem.
Hope this will help you. If you occur from any problem then do post back.

    Re: Installing gnome-applet Debian

    Hi
I can not remember the order but I issued the 3 following commands.
I think the 1st is not essential. For the other 2, the order matter?
    Code:
    apt-get install libgnome-desktop-dev
    apt-get install-libpanel applet2
    apt-get install-libpanel applet2-dev
In any case, compilation worked but the program itself does not seem to work. Finally it's another story.

    Hi
In fact, I believe, only libpanel-applet2-dev is needed. Otherwise, have you installed these 2 packages as well
HDAPS (IBM Hard Drive Active Protection System) utilities
    0.1-1.1: amd64 i386
    HDAPS daemon for IBM/Lenovo ThinkPads
    1:0.0.20070803-2: amd64 i386
For more information on this you can read the official pages of wiki.
