I searched on Google but all i could find was for Windows Vista and doesn't apply to Windows XP. Can anyone help me to Turn Off Indexing Service in Windows XP? Thanks!

    Follow these steps :
    • Open up My Computer
    • Right-click on your system hard drive where windows is installed (mostly "C:") and click on Properties
    • Uncheck the box at the bottom which says "Allow Indexing Service to"
    • Now Click OK, As the files will be removed from memory, it may take some time to finish it so wait for it

    Thats it... Doing this can boost your computer speed too...

    4. Click on Services
    5. Click on anywhere in the right side box
    6. Press "I" twice
    7. It will point to Indexing Service. Right Click on it and click properties

So you may have enabled it when you have used Search. And yeah, Indexing service makes your computer a bit slower...

    Use this code and paste it in notepad :
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\cisvc]
    "Start"=dword:00000004
    Now save this file with any name but keep its extension as .reg so that it could become a registry file. Double click on it and click yes. Now just reboot the computer...
