VLC not getting supported by Windows Vista

I have purchased a laptop having Windows Vista as OS. Many programs that were working properly on Windows XP are not working in Vista. The more I am frustrated is that even VLC is not working properly. When I try to start the playlist it will remain as it is and then error comes that it is not responding. I tried lot of things to do but nothing worked. I have Googled but found nothing. Can anyone help me out..??

I am using VLC in Vista but I am not facing any problems. You said that when you try to open the playlist it doesn't responds. This sounds that you are using the older version of the VLC. Try to update the version of that and then check. Before updating the newer version keep in mind that you will have to uninstall the older version. Keeping the older version and trying to install the newer version will not help you in removing this error. After installing the updated version you will able to use the VLC without any error.

    Try doing this :

    1. First open your VLC player.
    2. Click on Settings. Then select the Preferences
    3. Once you select it click on Video menu.
    4. Click on Output Modules.
    5. Now click on Advanced Options which will be located at the right bottom.
    6. Under the Video Output Module, select DirectX Video Output.
    7. Even then it is not working then select the different option instead of DirectX.

After doing these settings you can play the videos.

VLC supports all audio/video formats and all file formats. So the best option for playing the videos is VLC. Try t update your version after uninstalling the existing version. This will help you. There is certainly not issue of the Vista. Since VLC is one of the free software you will get the updated version from the net free of cost.
