Office 2010 Installation on Virtual PC

I have created a virtual PC i.e.: Microsoft Virtual PC. I have installed Office 2007 successfully on this same virtual PC. But now when I am trying to install Office 2010, there is an error message saying that it cannot install the setup files. So, does anyone know what are the system requirement for Office 2010 to run successfully on Virtual Office 2007. Thanks in Advance..!!..

Here is the recommended requirement for Virtual PC 2007.

The Operating Systems : Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows XP.

Processor : Intel Pentium 4, Intel Dual Core and Intel Core2 Duo.

Main Memory (RAM) : 1GB for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. 2GB for Windows Vista

These are the recommended requirements, so that your Virtual PC 2007 can work smoothly.

If you have installed Office 2007 in Virtual PC 2007, there is not much difference in installing Office 2010. I have installed the Office 2010 and it is working properly. So I am much confirmed that this newer version don't have any issue. If there is some error then check the Event Viewer on the Virtual Machine. After getting the issue you can solve that problem.

Even I have installed office 2010 and its working fine. The system should have configuration mentioned by Sam.D . My operating system is Windows XP and it is working flawlessly. So maybe you try to install Office 2010 properly. Otherwise try to make proper Virtual PC. You said that you were working in Virtual PC on Office 2007. That means your Virtual PC is fine. There is definitely some issue in your Office 2010 installation setup. Install it in proper way..

I am not the right person to assist you. In this case, we need to take the advise of my computer genius friend. I hope they would have the suggestion for you which would be much suitable.

I had the same issue. I realized that I was trying to install Office 2010 from my shared folder on my host PC. I successfully installed Office 2010 by copying it from my shared filder on my host PC to my VHD first, then installing. Hope this helps.
