Excel 2007 sharing violation in Windows 7

I have recently installed Windows 7 and everything is fine expect with Microsoft Office 2007. Only Excel 2007 seems to get an error. I don't know what is causing it but whenever i try to edit and save a file i get this error : "Your changes could not be saved to filename.xls because of a sharing violation. Try saving to a different file." What may be causing this Excel 2007 sharing violation in Windows 7?

I think you should have a check whether you have shared the file in the network with write permission. If this is the case then make sure that no one is accessing the file when you are trying to save chanes to it as it may cause sharing issues of course. Also try to have a look this link : Excel - Sharing Violation. May be that could help too.

I was having the same problem. It is caused due to some connection between OfficeScan, Windows Search and TrendMicro Antivirus. If I disable anyone from TrendMicro or Windows Search, the problem doesn't occur any more. I don't know what exactly is the problem so i use it this way by disabling TrendMicro Antivirus. I hope this is useful to you...

Thanks for your suggestions. I noticed that the moment I unsinstalled TrendMicro OfficeScan, the sharing file violations which i was getting previously just vanished. I'm now using net protector antivirus without any problems with my computer and without any sharing violations too.. Thanks a lot guys...

Here is an interesting statement from Trendmicro :

wondering why TM is suggesting to remove the directories where the office files are saved from the index ??
