No sound for video on net

Hello,
My problem is, I can not get sound when I play an important video on the net and happens only with net, that is too strange. I add that, this problem is related to my headphone connection is usb (sound card C-Media USB Audio Device) and not with a hedphone a mini-jack connection (Intel HDA sound card).
I do not get an sound for videos on internet. I'm on ubuntu intrepid. Any advice on this, how to fix it? Thank you in advance.

It is just that you have not flash plugin installed, the soundcard is configured properly, but you are probably missing codecs for your video player. In your situation I can only advise you to install and use mplayer, which provides a close pack of codecs to face any situation. Hope this soultion works with you. Install a set of codecs for audio and video, that is it. Then you can listen to the videos played on internet.
Add these repositories

deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty universe multiverse
deb-src http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty universe multiverse

And use this command to install

sudo apt-get install mplayer

Maybe I am not well expressed, as I viewed the video without problem with my player, the problem is only with the videos streaming on the internet. I also tried the firefox plugin but that did nothing. If you have any more ideas I wil really appreciate you. Still I installed the mplayer with codec as you said

Does the sound works otherwise or specifically for video streaming. In fact his problems may occur because of the following reasons

A rights issue
A problem with pulse audio
The sound turned down in the mixer
The speakers out, poorly connected, or volume too low
Codec evil / not installed

If the sound works for everything that does not flash, flash can be suspect. Otherwise it's probably one of the problems mentioned above. Just refer the results of

groups
ls-l / dev / dsp *
`dpkg-l | grep pulse
