What is iTunes U

Hey, i am sorry if i'm posting this in wrong section.

Today while in office I heard a term names itunes U. Well, i am a iPhone user and am aware of iTunes, but never heard iTunes U. Do you guys have any idea what is iTunes U ? Please share with me.. Wanna know about it..

iTunes U, part of the iTunes Store, is possibly the world’s greatest collection of free educational media available to students, teachers, and lifelong learners. With over 200,000 educational audio and video files available, iTunes U has quickly become the engine for the mobile learning movement. It puts the power of the iTunes Store in the hands of qualifying universities so they can distribute their educational media to their students or to the world.

If you want to allow access only to members of your campus, you can host your own password-protected iTunes U site. This enables you to create and manage the content available on the site, while controlling who can access and download resources from it.

iTunes U puts the power of the iTunes Store to work for colleges, universities, and other education organizations, so users can easily search, download, and play education content just like they do music, movies, and TV shows.

iTunes U uses the root Welcome page for both public and non-public content. You can organize Welcome pages in a top down, hierarchical structure based on departments, courses, tracks, and so on. Apple provides you with this predefined root page during site creation. It uses the root Public Feature page exclusively for public content. You can organize Public Feature pages in a free-form, linking structure based on the content you want to feature. Apple provides you with this predefined root page during site creation, you cannot create a Public Feature page within iTunes U.

The Public Feature page is designed to facilitate sites with dozens or hundreds of Course pages and thousands of tracks. Request a Public Feature page during site creation only if you have a large quantity of public content (more than one thousand tracks) that would benefit from a deeper structure.

iTunes U requires iTunes version 7.0 or later for Mac and Windows. Apple recommends using iTunes version 8 or later. In order to guarantee a consistent user experience, always use the latest version of iTunes.
iTunes U works with most modern, standards-compliant browsers. Apple recommends using Safari 4.0 or later for Mac and Windows.
To optimize your server bandwidth and performance for feed courses and feed groups, enable byte-range serving. Enabling byte-range requests for streaming and resumption of downloads on your web server allows you to send portions of files at a time and can improve the content caching system iTunes U uses for some public content.
