    Re: FileMaker Vs Microsoft Access

Microsoft Access and FileMaker Pro are the most popular database creation tools. They are not custom applications, pre-designed to do specific tasks such as fundraising or tracking client demographics. Microsoft Access is relational database management system that combines the relational Microsoft Jet Database Engine with software development tools and a graphical user interface.

Access is part of Microsoft Office Professional, FileMaker Pro runs on the Mac OS and Windows 3.x, 95, and NT. It's very easy to use, yet robust enough for complex databases.Filemaker is by Far a better tool than Access. You can even deploy your database to the web. You will be able to do UNION queries, LEFT OUT joins, multiple field keys, APPEND queries, 1 to 1 relationships, etc. However, the mechanism to do the above is a little different.

    Re: FileMaker Vs Microsoft Access

The only way to import it into File Maker is to export it from MS Access using an application from VersionTracker for Windoze that will save it as a SQL file, from there you can export it from SQL to Filemaker with a number of Database converter. Database Capacity : FileMaker :8 terabyte : 8 terabyte limit per database**. Fields can hold 2GB of data. Microsoft Access : 2 gigabyte capacity,2GB limit per database. Text fields hold 255, characters, memo fields hold 65,535 characters.
