Basic information to understanding the formulas and functions of Excel

It is one of the most important thing to understand while using Excel, because here understanding and management is the base of Excel. What is a spreadsheet, but a database we use a number of ways to avoid having to recalculate for every change we make. How to learn and understand the formula structure of Excel. How to study the syntax and the use of the Function Wizard, a tool very useful when you know very well the existing functions or syntax on these.

Re: Basic information to understanding the formulas and functions of Excel

A function is a predefined formula for Excel 2007 (or user) operating one or more values and returns a result that appears directly in the cell or will be used to calculate the formula that contains it. The syntax of any function is: function_name (argument1; argument2 ;...; argument-on). Like this you can use different terms like SUM, MIN, MUM, etc to get more detailed calculation.

If the function is the beginning of a formula must begin with the sign =. The arguments or input values are in brackets. Do not leave spaces before or after each bracket. The arguments can be constant values (number or text), formulas or functions. Arguments must be separated by a semicolon;. =sum(A1:A10). We have the SUM () function which returns results in the sum of its arguments.

In this example you can see the advantage of using the function. Formulas can contain more than one function, and can appear nested functions within the formula.E.g =sum(a1:a10 ) / (b1:b10). There are many different functions depending on the type of operation or calculation made. So there are math and trigonometric functions, statistical, financial, text, date and time, logical, database search and reference and information.

Excel formulas are one of the most useful features of the program. Formulas can be as simple as adding two numbers or can be complex calculations needed for high end business projections. Once you learn the basic format of creating a formula, Excel does all the calculations for you.

    2) Using Formulas in Excel
This step by step tutorial shows you the steps for writing basic formulas, using cell references and pointing to create formulas, how to use formula operators and to edit the data in formulas.

    3) Facts About SUM and AutoSUM Functions
The Excel SUM function is probably the most often used function in Excel spreadsheets. The AutoSUM button on the Standard toolbar makes it easy to quickly sum columns or rows of adjacent data without actually typing in the cell references. This overview gives you the background and shows you how to use these two basic functions in Excel spreadsheets.

    4) How to Use SUM and AutoSUM in Excel
This step by step tutorial takes you through adding columns and rows using the SUM function and selecting a range for calculations using the AutoSUM function. Learn how to use cell references to enter data.
