Need to upgrade directX

When i am trying to install the Counter strike on my computer it gives me error regarding the DirectX . I have played counter strike on my PC but because of virus Counter strike got corrupted. After removing the virus from my PC completely when i am trying to reinstall the counterstrike once again it show me error that Installation cannot continue because your game need to install Direct X 8.
and he is giving me the link to download the Direct X

I think your Direct X might be got corrupted with that virus which mentioned in your post or it could be not the latest one and that why not showing the compatibility with your game.

You need to check for your direct X version, to check do the following

• Click on the Start
• Go to Run
• On the Run Box type "dxdiag"

This will help you out to check the direct x version.

You did not specified about your system configuration which will help us to understand the problem better. Anyway Do you have Video card driver installed on your system. If no then first install the video card driver your system and try to reinstall the Counter Strike.
