    Photoshop CS4 slow down computer

    Hi to all,
I recently install adobe CS4 master collection and photoshop is slowing down my computer.I don't know exact reason but Probably because I'm using a big file . I have a RAM of about 512 MB. I solved my RAM problem by increasing it to about 2 GB. However, Photoshop is still quite slow. Could anyone tell me how to make it run faster?I have Compaq computer running windows xp.
    Thank you.

I think it may be due to your processor that can not handle load of work.
I think the software should tell you when you install it in your computer that your paging file should exist on a separate physical drive from your Operating System. If you can attache another hard drive, even of small size, it might be work well.Try it.

I have listed some useful tips that can make Photoshop faster just try it.
1.you can limit RAM memory that is use by photoshop.change it to 55-65%
2.Virtual RAM is a hard drive space that is allocated for the Photoshop program to as virtual RAM use while processing data. Set as many as you want,it will automatically erase once you quit.
    3. Set History States to 10-15 and Photoshop will run a lot smoother.
4.Free up the RAM by purging unnecessary data from your clipboard. To do that, go to Edit->Purge.
5.Use Windows Defragmenter tool to optimize your hard disks every once in a while.Click on Start->All Programs->Accessories-> -System Tools>-Disk Defragmenter.
    6. Close unnecessary Application that are running behind

As per your query you have 2gb RAM and still you get this problem then just try doing this this will definitely solve your problem

1.In your computer If you have something called Gamers OSD installed then un-install it from add or remove program.

2.Try to get the latest driver for your graphics card.

    3. un-install all third party plugins for Photoshop and reinstall them one by one.

    4.Run a registry cleaner .

    5. Update .NET if you have an ATI card.

    6.Un-installed unnecessary program.

    7. Disable OpenGL altogether from Preferences > performance, or go into advanced options and disable selectively.

4 If you use windows xp update DirectX.
