Error code 2356 while installing Orca.Msi

I had installed Windows Xp SP2 on my system. Recently i had installed SDK on my machine. After installing SDK successfully on my pc, i had tried to install Orca.Msi on my machine. As i was trying to install Orca.Msi, it gave me an error message with error code 2356. Can any body tell me that why i'm getting error code 2356 while installing Orca.Msi? Any one knows about it? Please help me out to resolve the above issue. Thanks.

I am using VS.net 2003 's setup and deployment package for creating the setup/installer files. However, does it appear that the cab was actually added to the MSI, i.e. did the MSI size change? It sounds like your MSI has become corrupted during the patching process. MSDN specified error 2356 to be "Could not locate cabinet in stream", so I'd recommend trying the patch again.

Which Microsoft Platform SDK did you install? When user try to install setup files, it installs the executable files and couple of icon/.gif files into image folder. When you build a patch, the media in the latest version of your setup must match the media in the previous version of your setup. Otherwise you will get these errors. If the user deletes any of the icon/.gif file from the image folder and try to run the application, instead of running the application it activates the setup repair process.

If you need to build a patch against a compressed setup, do not use developer to build an uncompressed version. It seems pretty clear to me that your edit unintentionally messed something up. You just learned a very important lesson: never, EVER edit vendor-supplied MSIs, except as a very last resort. Use transforms instead. Instead let Developers Patch Design view create an 'admin' version of the install for you.
