avcenter.exe is not a valid win32 application

Hello, I'm trying to install Avira Antivir but windows saying that its not a valid windows application, i have downloaded setup from avira website then what could be wrong here? i have windows xp sp2. please help me to resolve this issue.

I think you have downloaded the wrong version of Avira Antivir , may be x64 version. i don't have ideas about Avira Antivir , best is go for AVG, its free and will never make you pc slow like other antivirus programs.

Sounds like either your file associations are borked, or you have a bagle infection. Scan your pc with some other security software, perform a full scan but first install updates for the antivirus you'll choose to perform a scan , Try a online scan at Eset , its good. I did once. But still your problem persist then sorry to say but the clean install would be the best solution, this really safest and best option.
