Entourage 2004: A script is attempting to access your address book

Hi,

When I open Entourage 2004, I get the following error messege : "A script is attempting to access your address book." But in the alert, there is just "Allow access or Deny Access" options. Is there a way to know where the script is originating?

A script is attempting to access your address book, is a warning generated by Entourage. To resolve this issue :

1. Select Entourage Preferences
2. Select "Security"
3. Un-select the box labeled "Warn before Allowing an external application to access the address book"
4. Select "OK"

Re: Entourage 2004: A script is attempting to access your address book

You must run an AppleScript from a rule or a timetable and scriptmust be checking or doing something in the address book. Maybe if you are running a utility such as SpamSieve checks the address book, but it is logical. Check all the rules and schedules. Once you find out what script it is and you realize that, indeed, want it to work, go to Preferences / Security and uncheck "Warn before allowing an external application to access the address book" plus a similar one on sending email. I think we can turn this off also from the warning dialog.

Re: Entourage 2004: A script is attempting to access your address book

If you are receiving Entourage messages like "A script is attempting to access your address book" appears constantly. If you click Yes, the message still appears. If you click "Cancel" dialogue may disappear. This is supposedly a new security feature introduced in Microsoft Entourage. The message appears because you are probably running an AppleScript from a rule or Entourage calendar and the script should be checking or doing something in the address book. Review all rules and schedules to see what is running.
