    How to make Adobe CMM as the default color engine in Windows XP

    I have downloaded Adobe Color Management Module (CMM) on my Windows XP computer. Now I wanted to make it as the default color engine for applications. I installed it and am able to view it under Windows Color Control applet. I don't know how to use it to make it the default. I searched a lot over the net but didn't found any result. Please help someone!

    Re: How to make Adobe CMM as the default color engine in Windows XP

    To make Adobe CMM as the default color engine in Windows XP, copy the file AdobeCMMPrefs.txt, located in the folder \Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Utilities\Adobe CMM, to \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Color.

    To change the Black Point Compensation (BPC) or Dither settings:
    1. Launch a text editing application, e.g., Notepad: choose Start > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad.
    2. Choose File > Open, navigate to the directory where you copied the AdobeCMMPrefs.txt file, and select it.
    3. The file will contain text like the following:
    [AdobeCMM]
    BlackPointCompensation=1
    Dither=1
    4. To enable BPC or Dither, change the value to the right of the ‘=’ equals sign to 1. To disable BPC or Dither, change the value to the right of the ‘=’ equals sign to 0.
    5. Choose File > Save to save your changes.
    6. File > Exit to quit Notepad.

    The Adobe Color Management Module (CMM) provides methods to transform colors using industry-standard International Color Consortium (ICC) color profiles. It is intended for users who wish to achieve consistent color workflows using a common CMM. The CMM is included in Adobe applications that use the Adobe Color Engine, a full Color Management System.

    I don't think if it is possible to make Adobe CMM as the default color engine in Windows. I suppose you can use another CMM but you need to edit the Registry for the same. However you can expect Adobe CMM alternative to have much more features then that you can find on Adobe CMM.
