Office 2008 slow at start up

Hi,

My newly installed Office 2008 on macintosh seems to be very slow and it takes about 5 to 10 minutes for Entourage and Word. I can see the document opened, I still can't click anywhere in it for another 10 seconds! Does anyone have any other tricks to help with this?

It seems as though the office programs hang on startup. To make Office 2008 faster, close all office 2008 applications, then go to Microsoft Office 2008 \ Office \ Shared Applications \ roofing Tools folder, and remove or copy it to some other location, for any language which is not in use.

Many of you have been having problems with very slow startup times with "Office 2008", it possibly you have a lot more than the standard number of fonts installed. Try using a utility that can disable the fonts that you are not actively using it. Try to disable font Word Option in font menus, and a gallery of projects have nothing to do with the performance of Word optimizing font menu process - the speed is directly related to the number of sources that are active.

You can fix it by, disabling the word fonts :

1. Word Launch
2. Go to Word> Preferences
3. Click "General"
4. uncheck "WYSIWYG font and style menus"
5. uncheck "Show Project Gallery at startup"
6. Exit Word
7. Reopen Word
